2017 Dream Team Season in Full “Gear”

We’re rockin’ the 2017 season and looking forward to a strong finish! We have over 20 youth training hard three days a week toward the goal of completing the week long bike ride across Iowa. We are seeing these young men and women grow exponentially, not just in their ability and confidence on the bike, but off the bike as well. And that’s what Dream Team is all about! Many challenges present themselves during our training rides. That can include flat tires, hills, head winds, extreme temperatures, rain, you name it. These youth are learning how to face challenges head-on and come out stronger on the other side.

This season has had some unique and very cool opportunities for the youth. One of the Saturday training rides in May took the youth to the Nike Factory Store at Jordan Creek. The youth all got to pick out a pair of brand new shoes compliments of Shoes That Fit, a national non-profit organization. A big “THANK YOU” to the local Shoes That Fit members who made this special day happen. The smiles on their faces and the pride with which they’ve been wearing their new shoes has been priceless!

More recently, the Des Moines chapter of 100+ Women Who Care voted to make a very generous donation to the Dream Team. As part of this donation, each youth has received a headlight, taillight, and speedometer for their bikes. Later in the season they will also receive new duffle bags for use on RAGBRAI. How incredible!

So the Dream Team really is in full “gear” this year! We’re having a lot of fun and we hope you will continue to follow our journey on social media. Say “hello” and offer a word of encouragement when you meet us out on a training ride!

Here are some photos from throughout the season. GO DREAM TEAM!

If you would like to help support our cause, please consider donating to the Dream Team! Thank you to everyone who has shown support throughout the year!
